Before You Die, What . . .?

Some of the men in our church are participating in a Bible study from Men’s Fraternity called The Search For Authentic Manhood. Here’s what the website says about the study:

Men’s Fraternity is a series of three one-year-long studies, beginning with The Quest for Authentic Manhood, followed by Winning at Work and Home, and ends with The Great Adventure. Men’s Fraternity provides men with an encouraging process that teaches them how to live lives of authentic manhood as modeled by Jesus Christ and directed by the Word of God.

We’re now in our third session called The Great Adventure. Last week the narrator of the Bible Study, Robert Lewis gave us an assignment.  It seems simple on the surface, but after I thought about it for a while, I wasn’t sure how I would complete the assignment.  Here’s what he gave us to think about: Fill in these blanks:

Before I die I want to . . .
BE . . .
DO . . .
HAVE . . .
HELP . . .
ENJOY . . .
LEAVE . . .

Completing those phrases may seem simple on the surface.  You could say, for instance, “Before I die I want to have a million dollars.”  But think about that for a while.  What do you really want to HAVE before you die?

The phrases are not easy to complete if you take them seriously.

I challenge you, men and women, to think about each phrase. You may arrive at more than one thing to HAVE before you die, or DO, or ENJOY. That’s okay as well. But try as best you can to make your answers genuine and truthful.

Can you keep a secret? I haven’t started my list yet.  Even though I’ve thought considerably about my responses, I still don’t know what I’m going to say to complete the phrases.
