Was Jesus A Liar?

Was Jesus a liar?
He made some outrageous claims during his ministry preaching and teaching.
In John 14:1-12, Jesus says these things, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me. In Father’s house are many rooms (“mansions” in the KJV); if it were not so I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me  that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me you would know my Father as well. From now on you know Him and have seen Him.”

Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”

Jesus answered, “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a ling time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am the Father and the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather it is the Father living in me who is doing His work. Believe me when I say I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.”

W H O A!  Talk about an uproar! Talk about some arrogant, blasphemous claims.

When His disciples heard Jesus tell them He and God were one in the same, they became confused and agitated.  When the Sadducees and Pharisees heard Him call himself God they were furious and plotted to kill him. When people heard him say He was God and God was in Him some of them walked away and refused to believe Him. And some people didn’t know what to believe.

In Philippians Paul teaches, “Therefore God exalted him (Jesus) to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is__________.” NIV.

How would you fill in that blank? When you read what Jesus called himself in John 14 one of three things is true:

  • He is the Lord and He was telling the truth.
  • He was a liar and deceived the people he taught with lies about his identity.
  • He was a lunatic, out of his mind, and didn’t know what he was saying

Each one of us, as the Bible says, will have to deal with Jesus whether we believe what Jesus said about himself or not. Each of us has the choice to either:

  1. Believe He is Lord
  2. Believe He is a liar.
  3. Believe He is a lunatic.

All three choices have eternal consequences.

What do you call Jesus? Don’t know what to call Him. Don’t know Him personally? Would you like to find out more about Jesus and how He can totally transform your life? Would you like to call Him Lord of your life?  If you’d like to find out more, and decide what you’d prefer to call Him just follow this link to find out more.

  1. Jesus is Lord, acknowledge Him now, or acknowledge Him later. I prefer now as this option grants us eternal life! Later you will acknowledge Jesus as Lord (when you appear before the judgement throne) but you won’t be living in heaven…

  2. Yes! Jesus Christ is my Lord and my God! Thanks be to Him for the salvation of my wretched soul.
Keep up the good work Steven – if it is any help, I moderate all of my comments, too. You would not believe what I throw away.

  3. Thank you, Amanda for your encouragement and support. I’ve had to moderate my comments because I’ve had some bad experience. If I delay in responding to you, please forgive me. Until these fowl comments go away, I’m going to have to approve.

    1. I’m so sorry you are having that problem. I cried the first time I received a negative comment. My husband said I am definitely not cut out for this. Opposition comes with following Christ. Understanding it is inevitable has helped me.

The last message I received was that I was evil for writing anything about the Word of God. And I am to be silent and support my husband to minister. Well, my husband doesn’t want to do what I am doing so what then? I support him in his job, and what he does. The devil will try anything to bring us down.

Keep preaching what God tells you. I can see God working through you big time. And that is driving the devil mad. God’s blessings to you!:)

      1. You are such a positive influence on me, Amanda. I can’t tell you how much your encouragement means to me. And please, YOU keep teaching and writing what God tells you. You are making a tremendous impact on many people with your writing and your wonderful marriage and your faithfulness. You’re a true model for any wife. Have you considered writing a book about, “You can be a successful wife?” Because you certainly are. I’m not kidding. I think God just gave me those words to share with you. God bless you, Amanda
