All Roads Lead To Heaven

That’s right. All roads lead to heaven.

There’ll be Muslims there, Buddhists, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Hindus, Frozen Chosen, Christians, members of the Church of What’s Happening Now, Atheists, Sikhs, Jews, Shintos, you name it, they’ll be there.

The question is: What will happen when they get there? The Bible makes it crystal what will happen, at least for a time. Paul tells us in Philippians 2:9-11,

God exalted him (Jesus) to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

How many knees? Every knee. In heaven (those redeemed by the blood of the Lamb and already home); and on earth (all of us still living [saved and unsaved]); and under the earth (the dead and buried). That’s a pretty good description of “Every“.

Then what?

I think the book or Revelation 20:11-15 gives us the answer. I love to read this passage in The Message:

I saw a Great White Throne and the One Enthroned. Nothing could stand before or against the Presence, nothing in Heaven, nothing on earth. And then I saw all the dead, great and small, standing there—before the Throne! And books were opened. Then another book was opened: the Book of Life. The dead were judged by what was written in the books, by the way they had lived. Sea released its dead, Death and Hell turned in their dead. Each man and woman was judged by the way he or she had lived. Then Death and Hell were hurled into Lake Fire. This is the second death—Lake Fire. Anyone whose name was not found inscribed in the Book of Life was hurled into Lake Fire.

So, even though every path leads to heaven, The Bible says some folks are only going to be there long enough to bow a knee. Then when the White Throne Judgment occurs all those whose names are not written in the Book of Life will be thrown out of heaven into the Lake of Fire and be eternally separated from God.

  1. A TRUE word in the midst of a sea of confusion and false security. A very much needed reminder to the human race. We do not hear it enough. I’m not a “fire and brimstone” preacher, but our world right now is so deluged with the lies concerning what happens when we leave here — and the real truth is so seldom spoken plainly — even in our churches — that we ministers are going to be left with “blood on our hands” when we stand before God if things don’t change. Thank you, Tom.

    1. Sandra, God bless you and thank you for your timely and truthful comment. Talk about a small world: our pastor said the exact same thing from the pulpit two weeks ago about pastors who pander to such a sick culture just to draw in people and increase membership rolls. Great comments. Thank you so much.
