Five Minute Fridays
Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” Isaiah 30:21
Do you hear it? Are you listening? That’t the Holy Spirit. When I read that verse I think of Jesus teaching his disciples and the people, “He who has ears let him hear.” In other words Jesus’ teaching is for everyone. I hear that voice often. In fact, I hear it a lot. My problem is listening. I hear the Holy Spirit convict me of something, but often, that harlot, Mr. MyWill says, “You say go right, but I want to go left with this deal.” It’ a still small voice, but it is often very distinct. The direction He wants me to go is clear. Mr. MyWill, moretimes than not, likes to argue with the Creator of theuniverse. Mr. MyWill thinks He knows better. Or Mr. MyWill is just disobedient. Sometimes I block out the voice because I don’t want to hear Him tell me what I’m about to do is wrong. I don’t think about Mr. Consequences. And every time Mr. MyWill takes the wrong fork in the road, I always hear Mr. Consequences creeps up behind me. Pretty soon, Mr. Consequences starts nipping at my heals. When I do listen and obey, and I avoid the perils Mr. Consequences shells out, I feel the blessings God bestows on my for my obedience.
Do you hear that voice? I do. Which way do you turn> Ooooops. Times up.
Thank you Steven, I love this message.
DIfferent wording, but God is telling all His kids that they need to listen to Him.
In the days ahead, this act of obedience will become more important than ever.
Here’s just one of the ways He is asying it to me;

The battle between flesh and spirit…a continuous thing. Picking up our cross and carrying it is never an easy thing…it is a hard thing. So it was with Jesus, so much more difficult than our human minds can imagine..yet we struggle daily. Would we have willingly walked to our painful, tormenting, suffering death like Jesus when we can’t even say no to sin half the time? Something to think about.

Thank you so much for your insightful comments. I ponder that question often and if I’m honest, I must say no, I probably would not walk up that road to Calvary. Thank you and God bless.
