I received an interesting comment about my post last week on the gay bible. His comment sent me into God’s word to respond to Him in Truth.
His comment was this: “Then why isn’t it one of the 10 commandments?” I assume he was asking, “Why isn’t homosexuality one of the ‘Thou shalt not‘ 10 commandments?” His comment seemed confrontational to me, but I wanted to reach out to him in love with God’s truth. I try to do that with every reply to comments, negative or positive.
God prompted me to go to Genesis. In Genesis 2 I read,
“But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman, for she was taken out of man.”
That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.” Genesis 2:20-24.(NIV)
The King James Version states it: Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Here was my reply to his comment:
It didn’t have to be in the 10 commandments. God already made provision for marriage between a man and a woman in Genesis 2:24 “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”(KJV) That was Adam(a man) and Eve(a woman). It could not be more clear and definitive than that. Nowhere in God’s word does God make provision for any other marital relationship except between a man and a woman.
