God’s Resume. He’s Looking For Work.

ID in ChristThe Ten Commandments are an image of Almighty Holy God, what He does and does not do.They give us His character and His righteousness.

It is His Resume and He’s looking for work to do in your heart. The foundation of God’s law is God Himself. What He requires is only the expression of what He is: Perfect. Holy. What God requires of us is only the expression of what He is.¹

The only part of all of Scripture God wrote Himself was His Ten Commandments, God’s law cast in stone on two tablets for Moses on Mt. Sinai. God thought so much of His commandments that when the first two tablets shattered, He wrote them a second time.

Explaining God’s Law in a blog post is impossible.Explaining God’s law and how it fits into God’s plan will take an eternity. God may be able to show us enough about His law to help us better understand our true identity in Christ. Maybe.law of God

Galatians 3:10 says, “For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be every one who does not abide by all things written in the book of the law, and do them.” Because the law is perfect, and we are not, and God expects us to be, there has to be a way for us to “get” perfect.  Christ’s death on the cross made us perfect. When we accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, God imparted His righteousness to us as a free gift. His perfection. His finished product. And that’s how He sees us. Perfect.

  • The Ten Commandments Reveals Our Need For A Savior

We need the law because we can never keep the law. And for us to have a personal relationship with Christ. we have to keep the whole law. That’s why we need a Savior, because we’re dead without Him.² Jesus in us is the One who keeps the law for us.

Then as one man’s trespass led to condemnation for all men, [Adam’s one sin meant all his descendents, all of us, were condemned to die apart from God] so one man’s act of righteousness leads to acquittal and life for all men.[Jesus’ obedience, His perfect life, and death on the cross paid the price for all our sins and guaranteed us eternal life] For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by one man’s obedience many[all believers] will be made righteous. Law came in, to increase the trespass; [to make us aware of our sinfulness] but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death,[for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God] grace also might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 5:18-21 brackets mine.
