Zip-a-dee-do-dah

Editor’s Note: My good blogging friend, Butch Dean, posted this recently on his blog. I wanted to share it with y’all.  You can read more of Butch’s stuff and be forever blessed on his blog, Wordsmith’s Desk. Visit him soon.

“My, oh my, what a wonderful day

Plenty of sunshine headin’ my way”

It is easy to be thankful when the sun is shining and everything is going your way.
It is easy to smile and sing with no storms in the forecast.

Zip-a-dee-do-dah…zip-a-dee-ay!*

What about those days and endless nights when nothing seems in your favor…when storm clouds obscure the sun and there is no song in your heart. How thankful do you feel…where is your zip-a-dee-do-dah* then?

Paul wrote* that he had learned to be content in whatever situation he was in.

Whether the sun was shining or storms were brewing; whether times were prosperous or the pockets were empty; whether he was bound or free; he was thankful…he was content.

This mindset may not make sense to the world, but to Christians it must. We follow One who had no home nor a pillow to rest His head. (Matthew 8:20) We are asked to let His thoughts* and His ways be ours.

If I may…therein lies our “zip-a-dee-do-dah”!*
