Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. Colossians 3:1-3
Where is your mind and heart today? Is it at work, at school? at the soccer field? Bible study? The lost and wandering son? The wilderness? The crisis in your daughter’s life? Or are you on the mountain top today? Praising God for His blessings and mercy today?
Or are you thinking about eternity? If you think about eternity, how often do you think about where you really are? Colossians tells us to set our hearts on things above. Why? Because, in our spirit, in our new selves, in our real bodies, that’s where we really are. In the world but not of it.
And everything EVERYthing that happens to us down here, everything we do, in the world, is all practice for our real lives, our real purpose, our real hope, our real home in eternity with the Father. Practice. Preparing us for what God has prepared for us. Ephesians 3 tells us God put eternity in our hearts. Do we dwell there? Abide there? Do we think about eternity in our hearts every day? Or do we spend most of our time wading through the muck and mire of the world?
Another great one!
