The First Evangelist

The woman at the well.

Yes. John 4 records the first ever recognized evangelist. “So the woman left her waterpot, and went into the city and said to the men, Come, see a man who told me all the things that I have done. Could this be the Christ?‘ ”

What was the outcome of her taking the good news of Christ to the men of the town?

From that city many of the Samaritans believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “He told me all the things that I have done.” 4:39

She didn’t organize a ministry. She didn’t ask for an offering. She had no front band. She didn’t preach or hand out tracts. All she did was share the encounter she had with Jesus.

Have you had an encounter with Jesus lately? In prayer, in a quiet time, from a sermon you heard, from the testimony of a friend, in a quiet word from God?

Who will we share our good news with?
