Don’t you hate it when someone acts all human? Not deliberately breaking laws, just acting human. They know better, but their human-ness takes over. They hurt someone or make life miserable for those around them.
God showed me a human frailty of mine yesterday. My attitude towards human frailties in others needs to change. When I see someone act like that, I sometimes call them an idiot under my breath. Then I pat myself on the back for knowing better (Kinda sounds like a Pharisee.). If I run into a mutual friends, I often tell them how wrong our friend acted.
God showed me I’ve got frailties too. He reminded me that when I act like a jerk, when I hurt someone, when I do something stupid, when I’m human — God shows me mercy.
But at times I don’t.
Many times I show more judgmental superiority.
What an appropriate circumstance to apply what Jesus taught in Matthew 7,
Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
In the future, when I see someone else acting out of their human-ness, God wants me to remind myself that when I act that way, He always shows me mercy.
I should show others mercy more often too.
