I’ve heard some cynics and non-believers tell me Jesus is just a crutch. “You’re just weak,” they say. “No motivation of your own. No independence.”
I tell them, “Yep! You’re exactly right.” I couldn’t do anything without Jesus. I’m totally dependent on Him for my life. When I start thinking or acting on my own I get in trouble.
I had to walk with crutches for six weeks after an operation on my foot. I can’t imagine trying to get around on that leg without those crutches. I needed the support and confidence they brought me.
Am I weak for having to use Jesus as a crutch? ABSOLUTELY! Â In fact, I’m totally useless to do anything for God’s glory on my own. The Bible teaches us that His strength is made perfect in my WEAKness.
The eternal God is my refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. Deuteronomy 33:27
