If my people . . .

I vowed several years ago not to write about politics or religion (well, religion only when I see or read others who support or advocate it).

But, we’re in an election cycle this year in this country like none I have ever witnessed. It’s ugly, vicious, hateful, polarizing and divisive. Never before has the United States needed healing more than it does today.

I read harsh, vengeful,  wounding comments and posts from otherwise “Christian” folks asserting their opinions and their first amendment rights on social media regarding the current political climate.

In my opinion, we’ve never needed to camp out on 2 Chronicles 7:14 more passionately or more earnestly than ever before. We need healing.

The media will saturate us with videos of angry crowds, statistics and predictions. Candidates and political parties will say whatever they believe will get them votes.

But God is the one who will ultimately determine or allow who governs this republic and heals our land, if it’s His plan to heal it at all. God is sovereign. He’s in control. His plan will succeed in spite of our best efforts to derail it.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

 God is in control
