What’s a single guiding principle for your life?

Do you have a special quote or saying that reflects a single guiding principle for your life? This is a universal appeal for feedback. It’s not limited to Christians or any specific group. You can be young or old, Black or White, male or female, Christian or Atheist, rich or poor, Democrat or Republican.

Do you have a special quote or saying that guides your decisions in life? It doesn’t have to be from the Bible. It can be from any source–anyone or anywhere.  Mine happens to be  Scripture from Psalm 25: “Teach me your ways, O Lord. Show me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior and my hope is in you all day long.”

Years ago the news director for WHHY AM radio in Montgomery, Alabama, used to end every one of his newscasts with this quote from the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam:

“The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.”

Now, what’s yours?

    1. Thanks for sharing, Suze. That’s what Jesus talked about as well. That’s why Paul wrote the second chapter of Philippians. Others. Others. Others.

  1. There are so many. I have one that comes to mind, though, as a particular favorite:

When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, O LORD God Almighty. (Jer 15:16, NIV)

It is a constant reminder to me to come to the Word daily with an appetite and enthusiasm.
