Just for laughs . . .

Harold Martin and me

Yes, I wore those pants, and yes, that’s my real hair, and yes, I was skinny once.

I was editor of my college newspaper at Auburn University in Montgomery. With me is Harold Martin, one-time publisher of the Montgomery Advertiser.  Martin won a Pulitzer Prize in newspaper reporting for a series of investigative stories on prisoner abuse at Kilby Prison. It was the first Pulitzer Prize for reporting won by an Alabama journalist. Martin’s series focused on doctors at the prison who were testing yet unapproved pharmaceuticals on prisoners, some of whom died and were secretly buried on prison grounds. Martin’s articles were responsible for prison officials’ jail sentences and for shutting down the prison.

About Steven Sawyer

God blessed me with the gift of writing. Mom told me I wrote paragraphs in second grade when others were learning to write sentences. I spent more than three decades in professional writing gigs. For the past eight years I've combined my passion for writing with my love for the Lord. He and I write a Christ-centered, family-friendly blog to glorify God Monday-thru Friday at https://stevensawyer.wordpress.com/. My wife and I have four grown children and two precious granddaughters we co-parent with their mom. I'm a Galatians 2:20 disciple of Christ seeking to allow Christ to live His life in me, through me, and as me.
