The blessings of comfort

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Paul writes to the Corinthians teaching them (and us) that God is the God of all comfort. He will comfort us in ALL our afflictions, trials and tribulations.  That is surely a blessing to us as we go through life’s afflictions and trials.

The blessing to us, however seems to be this: When God comforts us, we remember those times. We remember the comfort we felt in God’s presence when we were in the fire. We possess the ability to comfort others with the same comfort God comforted us. What an awesome thought that is! And certainly a wonderful blessing from God each time we encounter someone we can comfort.

About Steven Sawyer

God blessed me with the gift of writing. Mom told me I wrote paragraphs in second grade when others were learning to write sentences. I spent more than three decades in professional writing gigs. For the past eight years I've combined my passion for writing with my love for the Lord. He and I write a Christ-centered, family-friendly blog to glorify God Monday-thru Friday at https://stevensawyer.wordpress.com/. My wife and I have four grown children and two precious granddaughters we co-parent with their mom. I'm a Galatians 2:20 disciple of Christ seeking to allow Christ to live His life in me, through me, and as me.
