Biblical Principals, God, Identity In Christ, If You Are In Christ . . ., Jesus

When satan speaks

The thief (satan) comes only to steal and kill and destroy. John 10:10

What does satan say to us and how does it impact us? ( I know his name it’s supposed to start with a capital s, but ask me if I care.)

We all know satan can only speak lies.   He is not capable of telling the truth. One area of our lives he likes to target is our identity in Christ. If  he can get us to doubt who we really are he can call it a good day.

For instance, he will tell you, “You don’t have enough money to buy that house.,or  You don’t have enough experience to get that job. or ” you’re too awkward to be a cheerleading squad.” or “You’re too fat.” or ” “You’re too insecure to get promoted to manager.” or That dress is two sizes to big for you.”

And he only needs to say something once because after that you’ll just keep repeating it to yourself over and over. “Do I really look fat in those jeans?” or, “I can’t ever finish a project on time.” or “You’ll never be a writer, you don’t have what it takes.” Come on now, admit it. Haven’t we all bought satan’s garbage lies at times?

For instance, he will tell you, “You don’t have enough money to buy that house.”  You don’t have enough experience to get that job. or ” you’re too awkward to make the cheerleading squad. or :”You’re too fat” or ” “You’re too insecure to get promoted,”You don’t have the grades to get into law school.”

Satan only has to say things once. Because we’ll repeat what he tells us. And if we repeat them often enough we’ll start to believe them about ourselves.  We believe things our parents tell us, things our friends say about us or people who don’t like us say when they speak of us.  If that happens too often we start believing things about us that aren’t true and the identity God has created for us begins to unravel. At once the identity we believe about ourselves becomes woven with lies satan, our parents, our friends and enemies, and others have said about us.
