Life does not begin at conception

Life does not begin at conception.

Are you going to believe what God says, or are you going to believe what you think, or what some doctors speculate and theorize?

Because the Bible clearly shows us evidence that life, for many of us¹ (see footnote), began way before conception. In Psalm 139 David probably offers the most accurate evidence that some of our lives began before conception. Listen to David speak about God,

“For you created my inmost being,
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me
were written in your book
before one of them came to be. Psalm 139:13-16.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth (where?)
your eyes saw my unformed body. (what kind of body?)

When God called Jeremiah into His service as a prophet, God said to him, “Before I formed you in the womb (Who formed?) I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:4-5. (Parentheses mine).

Then Ephesians 1:4 says, “For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world (When?) to be holy and blameless in His sight.” Which those of us who claim Jesus as Lord and Savior are in God’s eyes.

Now, either you believe what God says in His word about when life begins, or you don’t. Some people who call themselves Christians still justify abortion. And we know all the arguments they give for believing that–for the health and safety of the mother, rape and incest, birth defects and more. But Satan has deceived them with his lies.and they believe them instead of God’s word about life and when it began.

Let me close with a few comments about those who claim a woman has the right to make choices about her own body. The lost can and do claim that. Their father is Satan and they won’t know the love of God and the Truth about life until they claim Jesus as Lord of their lives. We need to pray for them and reach out to them with the Truth of the Gospel. God loves them just as much as He loves you and me.

But a man or woman who claims Jesus as Lord and Savior gave up all their rights at the cross. In 1 Corinthians 6:19 Paul teaches, “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?  The next verse says, “you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.” Having an abortion does not honor God.

¹The “many of us” to whom I refer above are those folks whose names are written in the Book of Life, who have been born again from above, and who have claimed Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We’re the ones, the Bible says, who were formed before the foundations of the world to be God’s people.  For us, life did begin long before we were conceived by our biological mother and father.
