Gratitude

My life’s focus in 2021 is going to be on gratitude.

I am not thankful enough. I am not as grateful enough to God for the things He has done for me and through me. His purpose for my life and for all our lives is to be grateful in all circumstances.

Paul teaches us in 1 Thessalonians 5:16 to “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in ALL circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

I want to begin the year by praising God and giving you glory and gratitude for all my wonderful, faithful readers of this blog. Father, they are a blessing to me with each post You and I write together.

I asked my lifelong friend Ronney Livermore to write a poem on gratitude to go with this post. Ronney and I grew up on the same street several blocks apart in Shenandoah, Iowa. He and his beautiful family live in Bay Minette, Alabama and we stay in touch regularly.

Gratitude

by Ronney Livermore

Gratitude’s an attitude
Which too few of us possess
When praise should be given
We often offer less

We can be grateful for a windfall
Or grateful for a call
There really are no rules
Really no rules at all

For When you receive a blessing
The blessing is a gift
If you pay it forward
You give another soul a lift

Each life has ups and downs
And curves along way
By Showing your Gratitude
You Can Brighten a another’s day

Yes gratitudes an attitude
That only you can share
When respect and love are given
It shows others that you care

It’s not hard to show your grateful
For blessings you receive
You need only make it clear
That in others you believe
