Oh, we know a few scriptures from the bible. We pray and give, and attend bible study now and again. We know about forgiveness We’re saved. We’re going to heaven. We help people in need. We know Jesus died on the cross to save us and cleanse us from all our sins. We know who Jesus is. But do we know Jesus? Are we surrendered to Him. Are we His?
As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, He came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:38-42.
You see sister Mary knew Jesus. While Martha was fretting over trivial, worldly things Mary was soaking up every word Jesus was saying. She was willing to surrender herself in humble service to the man she knew as her Master. The disciples were still trying to figure out who the number two Jesus disciple would be in His Kingdom.
