How good is good enough?

Some folks, even some well-intended Christians, believe in and practice doing good things in hopes God will love them more and rack up more points for acceptance.

They believe their performance is the ticket for being good enough to please God and serve Him.

They have this performance code that says. “If I do enough, work enough, give enough, go to church enough, give enough, read the Bible enough, . serve enough, and obey enough, I’ll have a great relationship with God and be good enough to please Him.

They are totally wrong.

You can never be good enough for God. First of all, God is the only one in heaven or earth who is good. Jesus proclaimed in Mark 10, “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone.”

There is no such thing as a good Christian. Even though God is the only one who is good in all the universe, we still have scores of believers who still think their performance counts.

It never will.
