Horoscope Hijinks

What’s your sign, man? Horoscopes used to play an important role in my relationships–especially with women.. This was during my prodigal son romp through my recently divorced mid-life wilderness.  When I became interested in a woman, the first place I went was Linda Goodman’s book Sun Signs to see if the woman and I would be horoscopicly […]

When God said “No”.

I asked God to do things on my to-do list. He taught me He’d take care of things I was trying to handle my way.

I’m going to write a post on procrastination . . .tomorrow

If you look up “procrastination” in your Funk and Wagnals you’ll see my mug shot. The inscription beneath my photo reads, “If it weren’t for the last minute I wouldn’t get anything done.” Amy Torres wrote about procrastination on the Writing Cooperative today. Mrs. Torres discusses the types of putting off we do.  She suggests […]

Will you just show up today and allow Jesus to provide for you?

How to pick the right religion

There is no room for religion in the lives of true believers.

The majestic, simple Gospel

The good news of the Gospel is simple enough for a child to understand.

3 things Vacation Bible School taught me

Vacation Bible School always teaches me, as well as precious children in our community, about Jesus.

When we see The Father for the first time

How will we react when we see God for the first time?

Why do you read your Bible?

Do you know the Author of the Bible?

How do we get right with God?

Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin. But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ […]

Are you doing enough for God?

The operative word in that question is “doing” The Gospel of Jesus Christ turns on that word.  The law is about “doing”.  Grace is about “Being”. Folks who work hard to be a “good Christian” miss the message of Christ’s ministry. (By the way, there’s no such thing as a “good” Christian.) For some (I was […]

God’s free gift of grace, to me, is. . .

Books about God’s grace and what it means and what it will do abound.   Sometimes I like to boil complex topics down into chunks my simple mind can digest. God’s free gift of grace, to me, is . . . Outright Undeserved Totally sufficient Exclusively God’s Eternal Universal–available to all Indiscriminate Spiritually given Spiritually […]

God answered critical Tucson prayer.

God answered our prayers for taking care of our family.

My inevitable but necessary 31-day sabbatical has ended. I am home. I will publish my next “For His Glory” post on Wednesday, May 17.

After a relationship with Christ family is the most important responsibility and blessing we can ever have.

People with bipolar have high and low moods, known as mania and depression, which differ from the […]

Do I have to draw you a picture?

Sometimes we just might have to draw someone a picture to get our point across.

. . .and on the 8th day . . .

On the 8th day, Jewish infants became covenant children in God’s family.

The Shoes of Peace Aren’t Flip-Flops

I’m so blessed to have discovered  SharaC’s blog, Into the Foolishness of God today.  I was so enamored and moved with the first post I read, I decided to post it here.  I just know my readers will be blessed as well. Y’all visit her site. She’s a committed follower of Jesus and has a flair […]

What’s your FQ? your faith quotient?

By Dr. John Ed Mathison Executive Director John Ed Mathison Leadership Ministries Have you ever heard someone described as being “lucky?”  Have you ever heard a person brag about being “lucky?”  Have you ever heard of successful events in life described as just being a result of “luck?”  I don’t believe in luck.  I think […]

Are you a Sea of Galilee or Dead Sea believer?

What kind of believer do you think you are? The Jordan River rolls through the Middle East for more than 150 miles. The river flows through the Sea of Galilee between Israel and the West Bank on the West, and Jordan and the Golan Heights on the East. Then it empties into the Dead Sea. Where […]

“Christian” is a lousy adjective

A Jewish lady answered a knock at her door. The young man asked her if she wanted her house painted. It needed painting, so she took his card. She noticed a fish symbol on the card and asked him what it meant. “It means I’m a Christian painter,” he said. In my opinion, calling yourself […]

What’s your WQ–Winning Quotient?

God picks winners. God picked you. You’re a winner. God doesn’t make mistakes.

How do we know the one true Church?

The post, The Church can not be separated from the State sparked a few interesting reader comments. Seems I “mis-wrote” (See footnote 1 below) my thoughts. So here’s a stab at clarification. Several comments seemed to suggest I didn’t adequately explain what I believe THE Church is. If you look up “church” in your Merriam Webster you’ll find a […]

Whole lotta shoutin’ goin’ on

I’ve never understood shouting. I can count the times on one hand I’ve ever shouted. I’m not saying I’m a choir boy (well, as a matter of fact I am–but not a shouting choir boy). I have close family who have been shouters. I’ve known people who were shouters. Maybe one reason I don’t like shouting […]

God Bless Atheists This Christmas

Many Atheists are good people and are entitled to believe what they will.

We can’t end racism, stop abortion or save the world for Jesus.

Jesus told us to love one another. “Another” means all those we meet and know.

Ever notice isolation around you?

lets shine our light on others

I’m okay. You’re okay. It’s okay. Okay?

Everything’s really not okay in the church today.

Potluck religious stew

Is the church today eating at the wrong table?

A young man with the right answers

Do we know who we really are? What would we tell people who asked who we really are?

How to argue with an atheist

Why do atheists spend so much time talking about God if they don’t believe in Him?

Why do “they” go to church?

Why do folks go to church and not take their Bible or take notes?

Do you know another word for “never-ending supply”?

God’s abundance is never ending, like a mighty river.

Let go (of what?) and let God

When someone tells you to “Let go and let God”, what do they expect us to let go of?

Religion or relationship

Can you be religious and have a relationship with Jesus?

Today I found an uplifting, positive blog

The world is not all bad, and this blog I found proves it.

My response to the tragic murders in Dallas, Orlando, San Bernadino and beyond

Hate is a four letter word. Love is the only thing that can overcome hate.

Letter to Millennials from the Frustrated Church

Millennials are increasingly leaving the church. Why? And what can the church do?

Sometimes helping loved ones grow up is painful.

Sometimes we have to quit enabling our loved ones and help them grow up by kicking them out.

“Pick up your mat and walk.”

Once we encounter Jesus and experience His healing, let’s walk it out by sharing with others what Jesus did for us.

Break the law. Oh, Please, break the law

We have died to the law and now live the sanctifying life under Grace in Jesus Christ.

Is Jesus God or not?

Jesus is either God, has he claims in the Bible, or he’s a liar, was not divine, and was bent on deceiving people.
